    I recently ordered a cake from Thelwall Bakehouse for my son’s Baptism and 1st Birthday, and I couldn’t have been happier with the result. I sent over a few inspiration photos of what I had in mind, and Geraldine brought my vision to life exactly as I imagined it. The party was Peter Rabbit themed, and the cake reflected this beautifully with incredible attention to detail. It was almost too perfect to cut into! Not only did it look amazing, but it tasted delicious too. I’m so grateful for the care and talent that went into creating such a special cake for an important occasion. I will definitely be using Geraldine at Thelwall Bakehouse again in the future. Thank you so much!

Every child is different - and their cake should be too. Whether they're obsessed with a TV character, a football team, dinosaurs, unicorns, or something brilliantly random - I'll work with you to design something that feels truly made for them. No theme is too ambitious, no request too unusual.

Popular character themes include PAW Patrol, Bluey, Peppa Pig, Frozen, Disney princesses, superheroes, Minecraft, Fortnite, and more. If your child loves it, I can more than likely put it on a cake. Get in touch with their favourites and I'll let you know what's possible.

A first birthday is a huge milestone - and the cake deserves to match. I make bespoke first birthday cakes designed to photograph beautifully and taste just as good. Popular themes for first birthdays include safari animals, woodland creatures, rainbows, and classic pastel designs.

Smash cakes are a brilliant addition alongside a display cake - a small individual cake the birthday child can dig straight into for that perfect photo moment. Just mention it when you get in touch and I'll plan it in from the start.

Cakes for older children & teens

As children get older their tastes change - and the cake should too. Gaming themes, football clubs, favourite bands, and TV shows make for brilliant cakes for children aged 8 and above. Milestone birthdays like 10th, 13th, and 16th deserve something a little extra special.

I'll work with you to create something that genuinely reflects what your child is into right now - not a generic cake off a shelf, but one made specifically for them. Whatever their passion, I'll do my best to bring it to life.

  • How much does a children's birthday cake cost?

    Prices depend on the size, number of tiers, and complexity of the design. A 6" single-tier cake starts from £75, with more intricate themed designs priced accordingly. Get in touch with your date and what you have in mind and I'll come back to you with a personalised quote.

  • How far in advance should I order?

    Please order at least 6-8 weeks in advance where possible, and longer during busy periods like summer and Christmas. That said, I always try to fit in last-minute orders where possible, so it's always worth asking even if the date is close.

  • Can I choose the flavour?

    Absolutely. I offer a wide range of flavours including vanilla, chocolate, lemon, carrot, and more. Visit the flavours page to see the full menu. Each tier can be a different flavour if you'd like variety.

  • Do you make smash cakes for first birthdays?

    Yes - smash cakes are one of my favourites to make. They're typically a small single-tier cake designed for your little one to dig into themselves. I can match colours or themes to the rest of your party setup - just ask when you get in touch.

  • Do you cater for dietary requirements?

    Yes - I can accommodate a range of dietary needs including gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options. Please let me know when you enquire so I can make sure every guest can enjoy a slice.

  • Can I collect the cake?

    Collection from my home in Thelwall, Warrington is the standard option. Delivery may be available for weddings and larger events - just ask when you enquire.
