    We absolutely loved our wedding cake! It looked so elegant and fitted our day perfectly, with the beautiful fresh flowers making it even more special. We chose vanilla with raspberry preserve, almond with cherry preserve, and chocolate with chocolate fudge sauce - every flavour was delicious, and so many of our guests commented on how amazing the cake was.     We used Thelwall Bakehouse for our wedding cake and our wedding favours earlier this month. Geraldine did an amazing job producing a gorgeous single tier cake plus 100 cupcakes in multiple flavours along with 100 biscuits for our wedding favours. They were all beautifully decorated and they tasted even better than they looked. We would definitely recommend Thelwall Bakehouse to others.

Three-tier naked wedding cake with white and dried flowers and a gold monogram topper

Naked & semi-naked cakes

One of the most popular choices for relaxed, rustic, and outdoor celebrations. A naked cake lets the sponge speak for itself - layers of buttercream between each tier, with the sides left exposed.

A semi-naked cake has buttercream between the layers plus a thin coat applied to the outside, leaving some of the sponge visible - a slightly more polished look while keeping that relaxed, natural feel.

Classic fondant & smooth finish

Clean lines and intricate piped detail - fondant cakes are the traditional choice for a reason. Available with a smooth, ruffled, or wrapped finish, I can also incorporate lace effects, pearl borders, sugar flowers, hand-painted designs, or monograms.

Buttercream finish

Buttercream finishes have a softness and warmth that fondant can't quite match - whether that's smooth, textured, or swirled. Paired with hand-crafted sugar flowers, a buttercream wedding cake makes for one of the most beautiful centrepieces you can have.

Every sugar flower is made by hand and can be matched exactly to your wedding florals.

Every wedding cake I make starts with a conversation. Whether you have a clear vision or no idea where to begin, we'll work through it together - tiers, flavours, decoration, and finish. I can create anything from a clean, modern design to something heavily detailed with sugar flowers, hand-painted elements, or custom toppers. If you've seen something you love, bring it to me. If you haven't, I'll help you get there.

The size of your cake comes down to two things: your guest count and your day. A single tier suits intimate ceremonies, two tiers work well for mid-size receptions, and three tiers are ideal for larger celebrations. Planning your wedding cake

Not sure where to start? Here are the four things to think about before you get in touch.

Guest count

Your guest count determines the size and number of tiers you need. A single tier typically serves up to 30 guests, two tiers up to 60, and three tiers 80 or more. I'll help you work out the right size when you get in touch.

Style & finish

Think about the overall feel of your day - relaxed and rustic, classic and elegant, or something bold and personalised. Bring me photos, a Pinterest board, or just describe the vibe and I'll translate it into a design.

Flavours

Each tier can be a different flavour, so you can cater for different tastes across your guests. Order a taster box of cupcakes to try the flavours before you decide - available in boxes of 6 or 12.

Timing

I'd recommend getting in touch at least 3 to 6 months before your wedding, especially for summer dates. The earlier the better - popular weekends book up quickly.

Civil ceremonies and vow renewals

Not every wedding is a church wedding - and not every wedding cake needs to be a towering three-tier centrepiece. Civil ceremonies often have a more intimate feel, and the cake should reflect that. Whether it's a small single-tier for a low-key register office celebration or a statement two-tier for a reception that comes later, I'll design something that fits your day perfectly.

Vow renewals are a celebration in their own right - a chance to mark something meaningful with the people who matter most. I've made cakes for vow renewals of all sizes, from an intimate family gathering to a full party. Get in touch and let me know what you have in mind.

I offer a full delivery and setup service to venues across Warrington and the Northwest. Your cake will arrive safely, on time, and set up exactly as planned - so there's one less thing to think about on the day. The delivery charge depends on your venue's location and is included in your quote.

  • How far in advance should I order my wedding cake?

    I'd recommend getting in touch as early as possible - popular dates book up quickly, particularly in summer. As a guide, most couples order three to six months in advance, though I'll always do my best to accommodate shorter timelines where I can.

  • How much does a wedding cake cost?

    Every cake is priced individually as each one is made to order. The cost depends on the number of tiers, the number of guests, and the complexity of the decoration. Get in touch with your date and guest count and I'll come back to you with a personalised quote.

  • Can each tier be a different flavour?

    Yes - each tier can be a completely different flavour. Most couples order taster cupcakes to help them decide.

  • Do you cater for dietary requirements?

    Yes - I can accommodate gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan requirements. Please mention this when you get in touch so I can factor it in from the start.

  • What happens on the day?

    I'll deliver the cake directly to your venue anywhere across Warrington and the Northwest, and set it up myself, so you don't need to worry about a thing. Just let me know your venue and timing when you enquire.

  • Can I have cupcakes or iced biscuits alongside my wedding cake?

    Yes - this is a really popular option. I can create matching cupcakes or personalised iced biscuits to complement your wedding cake, whether as additional dessert portions or as favours for guests to take home. The decoration can be matched to your cake design so everything looks cohesive. Just mention it when you enquire and I'll include it in your quote.

  • What's the difference between fondant and buttercream finish?

    Fondant gives a smooth, flawless finish that's ideal for intricate piped detail, lace effects, and a classic elegant look. Buttercream is softer and more textured - it can be palette-knifed smooth or left with a natural swirl - and has a warmer, slightly more rustic feel. Both can look stunning; it really comes down to the overall aesthetic of your day. I'm happy to talk through which would suit your vision best.

  • Can I see the cake before the wedding day?

    I don't offer pre-wedding viewings of the finished cake as it's made fresh close to the date. However, the taster box process means you'll have already tried and approved the flavours, and I'll share any relevant design work or references during the planning process so you know exactly what to expect. I'll also keep you updated as the cake comes together.

  • Do you work with wedding venues or florists?

    I'm happy to liaise with your venue directly on delivery and setup logistics if that's helpful. If you're having fresh flowers on your cake, I can work with your florist to make sure we're coordinating on timing and flower types. Just let me know when you get in touch and I'll make sure everything is joined up.
